Future Technologies is a quarterly open access journal focused on technologies that have the potential to change the human course. There are three major themes the journal focuses on currently: (1) Artificial Intelligence and Robotics; (2) Biotechnology and Bioengineering; (3) Space Science and Technology. Another important theme is ethical considerations and challenges. Although we encourage submissions of other topics for editorial consideration.
Future Technologies was created to deliberate how technological developments and trends may impact, for better or worse, the human experience. We aim to bring together different perspectives and a broad view to a discussion about the promise and implications of future applications. Articles should provide technical depth about a topic, but be written in a way that is accessible to everyone.
The journal has a variety of article formats, including essays, commentaries, reviews, and full length technical articles. It brings together scientists, engineers, philosophers, artists, futurists, policy makers, and business leaders to a common forum. Articles are written in a way that puts their chosen topic in a broader societal context, while clearly communicating technical details. For example, how specific technologies impact society, policy decisions, or business; technical descriptions that enable new applications, and considerations about creative or artistic impact.
The aim is to achieve this discourse through open communication and international collaboration, in order to better understand the technologies of today, and anticipate the technologies of tomorrow.
